March's Message from Pastor Jon O. Gallatin

As I am writing this month’s Epistle article I am sitting in a coffee shop staring out across the bay. I started thinking about how important water has been in all our faith stories. Going back to the Old Testament we hear how God used water to tell the story of Noah and his family. We heard how God used water to save the Israelites from the pursing Egyptians as they crossed the Red Sea. From the beginning God has been using water to help tell His story God has been using water to help tell people about the love He has for them.

We hear Jesus in the Jordan River being baptized by John and revealing to us Jesus is God’s Son. God still uses water to this day to pass on His love and forgiveness. In the waters of baptism God claims you and claims you as His child. The good news in the waters of baptism is God telling us He will always be with us. The waters of baptism tell us we belong to a family who are here to support us and provide support when needed.

Just as we need water to drink and to help us stay healthy, God uses water to show the love He has for us. God uses water to give us life so we can go and continue the work for sharing His love with all people.

In Christ,

Pastor Jon Gallatin
